All presenting blood donors will be entered to win four tickets and one parking pass to the Kansas City Chiefs home opener on September 7th

KANSAS CITY – Community Blood Center (CBC) will be partnering with the Kansas City Chiefs to encourage local residents to give blood by entering all presenting blood donors into a sweepstakes to win tickets to a game. The winner will receive four tickets and one parking pass to the Kansas City Chiefs home opener against the Detroit Lions on September 7th at Arrowhead Stadium. The sweepstakes will be running from Wednesday, August 30th to Tuesday, September 5th.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been a longtime supporter of CBC for over 25 years. The team hosts their Annual Chiefs Week each fall, another initiative that aims to encourage blood donations and replenish the region’s blood supply.

“We’d like to thank the Kansas City Chiefs for being such wonderful partners in our effort to strengthen the region’s blood supply after the holiday weekend,” said Patsy Shipley, Vice President of Community Blood Center. “We encourage all eligible blood donors to celebrate the start of football season by signing up to donate blood and saving a life, you never know if you could be the lucky winner that gets to cheer on your home team on opening day!”

The summer months are always difficult for the blood supply, especially around Labor Day weekend, when back to school and summer travel plans make blood donation less of a priority. Hospitals and patients rely upon a steady flow of volunteer donors to receive life-saving blood products, but blood donations still have not returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Blood donors can give every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently lifted eligibility restrictions for individuals who lived in Europe during certain periods of time.
