Effective April 1, 2018, Community Blood Center and New York Blood Center were merged as one organization to better enable the advancement of the organizations’ charitable missions and improve the ability to provide blood and blood-related products and services.
The two organizations began working together in 2014 when NYBC affiliated with CBC. The collaboration has been a great success for patients, hospitals, and employees. The merger will allow the organization to continue to improve services to hospitals in the Midwest and the New York City area. NYBC is one of the nation’s larger not-for-profit blood centers, whose mission, like CBCs, is to ensure a safe and reliable blood supply to the communities it serves. The merger of the two organizations will serve to strengthen this mission.
CBC will continue to do business as Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City.
