BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – It was police vs. fire in the best kind of rivalry on Wednesday, August 20, as Blue Springs first responders squared off in Community Blood Center’s (CBC) annual “Battle of the Badges.”
The friendly competition challenged the Blue Springs Police & Fire Departments to see who could rally the most blood donors – and the community showed up in a big way.
First responders know better than anyone just how critical blood is in an emergency. Whether it’s treating an accident victim, saving a trauma patient, or supporting a surgery, blood donations are often the difference between life and death.
This year, the police department took home bragging rights, but the real victory was for patients: the drive collected enough blood to help save up to 90 lives.
Every donor walked away with a limited-edition Battle of the Badges t-shirt, and the satisfaction of knowing their donation will help patients in need.
