April 20, 2026 – Community Blood Center (CBC) joined SevenDays® on Monday, April 20 to launch the annual Week of Kindness at the Kansas City donor center, joining community advocates and youth changemakers to inspire acts of kindness across the region.

SevenDays®: Make a Ripple, Change the World is a Kansas City-based organization that promotes kindness and understanding through education and dialogue. The annual Week of Kindness honors the lives of Reat Underwood, Dr. William Corporon, and Terri LaManno, who were killed outside Jewish community buildings in 2014.

In the 12 years since the tragedy, nearly 35,000 blood donations have been made in their memory during SevenDays®, transforming remembrance into lifesaving impact for patients across the region.

CBC was honored to welcome Tony Corporon, who lost his father, Dr. William Corporon, and nephew, Reat Underwood, in the 2014 tragedy. Tony addressed local media and reflected on the power of kindness to bring healing and unity in the years since.

Also present were Ruth Bigus, Director of Media and Community Relations for SevenDays®, and Lorraine Jay, a local KC high school junior and member of the SevenDays® Kindness Youth Leadership Team, both helping to amplify the message that even small acts can create meaningful change.
