Certified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA), the reference laboratories provide 24-hour service and on-demand physician consultation.
In addition, Community Blood Center's laboratories meet the highest quality standards established by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and hold an unencumbered Food and Drug Administration (FDA) license with no outstanding compliance issues.
Each year, Community Blood Center's blood banking experts perform more than 81,000 tests in the reference laboratories. Laboratory Services include:
Hepatitis - conducts tests for diagnosing patients with symptoms of viral hepatitis - including identifying the type of hepatitis and whether the infection is acute or chronic.
Immunohematology - performs testing for unexpected red cell antibodies, and, if necessary, obtains blood for patients with extremely rare blood types.
Platelet Antibody - assists in the diagnosis of platelet transfusion and abnormal platelet destruction problems.
Immunology/Virology - works with hospitals and other blood centers to test for viral diseases, including HIV.
