Martin Sheen: Keynote Speaker at Community Blood Center
50th Anniversary Celebration

50th Anniversary Gala Luncheon
Friday, April 18, 2008
Starlight Theater

This important event offered the area’s civic and philanthropic leadership an opportunity to embrace and celebrate the rich history of Community Blood Center’s commitment to our region.

Emmy Award-Winning actor, social activist and humanitarian Martin Sheen was the keynote speaker for the celebration. Sheen is best known for his role as President Bartlet on NBC’s award-winning series The West Wing.

Since opening its doors in 1958, Community Blood Center has provided life-saving blood products for more than one million people, right here in our community. The Center serves 73 hospitals in more than 70 Missouri and Kansas counties. Each day Community Blood Center collects 580 donations needed by patients in area hospitals.

Today, Community Blood Center prepares for the future and the many exciting opportunities facing the transfusion medicine discipline. CBC envisions a broader array of services for patients suffering hematologic and oncologic disorders and those requiring transfusion support following traumatic injuries.
